PRESENTATION OF SLURRY SEAL
A slurry seal consists of a blend of bitumen emulsion, finely graded aggregate, sand, cement, and water. This
mixture is applied to enhance or preserve an existing premix layer.
The layer applied onto the existing bitumen surface is often informally referred to as a “chocolate milkshake layer.”
When is Slurry Seal the better option?
● This approach is employed when the premix is still in good condition.
● Applying a slurry seal will notably prolong the lifespan of the existing premix by shielding the underlying surface from the impacts of aging and environmental factors.
● The anticipated lifespan of an area treated with a slurry seal is estimated to be between 5 to 8 years.
